Abstract: 

Human advancements in science and technology have also developed to libraries leading to the emergence of the phenomenon of the digital libraries. Therefore, authors decided to open the new view in the development of science and technology by examining both the copyright and digital library. It seems that in the digital library we must distinguish between two types of public and private libraries. Founder of the private libraries is required to satisfy the owner's personal needs. But it is not the case in public libraries. And According to Article 8 of "The protection the rights of authors, composers and artists act 1348" the founders should be exempted from the authorization of the copyright owner. Of course such an attitude is defendable about users without ability to download resources who have just the ability to read them. But about libraries that users can download resources from, this idea is not defendable.

Abstract: 

Objective: Information and communication technology has led to the emergence of a new generation of libraries called digital libraries. These libraries need specialized and trained staff to provide services to users. In developed countries, independent curricula have been designed and implemented to train librarians. In Iran, medical librarians do not have the appropriate training to provide services in digital libraries.Method: This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive type. In this article, in order to meet the needs of medical librarians with a qualitative approach (comparative method and Delphi technique), the digital medical library program was designed.Results: The content of the digital library master's degree curriculum was first searched in Spain, Sweden, the United States and the joint international curriculum of Italy, Norway and Estonia. The content of the curriculum was studied. . The credits of each program and the amount of subscriptions and differences in each curriculum were determined. Then, the selected courses from these programs as well as the opinions of experts in this field were reached and ranked by the faculty members of the Iranian Library and Medical Information Departments by Delphi Durandeh.Originality of the work: Finally, inspired by the elements of the curriculum in the mentioned countries and the opinions of the faculty members of the curriculum, the digital medical library was designed. The results of this article can be a guide for curriculum designers in the Ministry of Health and Medical Education Be.Keywords: Digital Library, Curriculum , digital library

Abstract: 

The objective of the research is to identify the indicators of the digital library in the Metaverse environment. The current research is applied in terms of objective, and a multi-step quantitative Delphi method was used. The statistical population of this research consists of experts in the field of metaverse, digital libraries, information science and epistemology, and information technology engineering. To determine the sample, the judgmental sampling method and the opinions of 10 experts in this field were used. In order to identify the indicators of the digital library in the field of Metaverse, researchers first extracted 75 indicators by reviewing the literature and research background, and then, through a semi-structured questionnaire, the experts were asked to determine the effect of the indicators based on the five-point Likert scale. 75 indicators were identified through background checks and interviews with experts in the fields of metaverse, digital libraries, information science and epistemology, and information technology engineering. These indicators were screened by distributing questionnaires among experts and using the Delphi method, and 28 indicators were selected for the final analysis. This research was categorized by considering 5 dimensions, including economic, human, political, managerial, and technological dimensions. The presence of digital libraries in the Metaverse environment significantly changes the way of providing services, interacting with users, and managing resources. These changes are effective in improving the user experience, increasing the quality of services, and improving the overall performance of digital libraries in this new world. In fact, in the Metaverse environment, digital libraries are permanently available and allow users to access the resources they need at any time and from any place without time and place limitations.

Abstract: 

Purpose: To identify research trends in digital library domain from retrospective, current and foresight approaches.Methodology: Mixed method. To study the past and present state of digital libraries, related conferences topics were quantitatively reviewed and for the foresight study, qualitative approach and scientific imagination technique were used.Results: The past research issues are still a point of discussion today, however new issues have been posed in recent years. Future research trends will probably be on subjects like social networks of researchers, sharing research results, semantic sharing of information, digital library maintenance, big data and innovations.Conclusion: This study will help in designing a road map for guidance, evaluation and education and research improvement in digital library domain.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Long-term clinical evaluation of dental implants and their surrounding structures is of utmost importance to acquire knowledge about reasons for implant success and failure.However, accurate and reproducible results are difficult to obtain. The aim of the present study was to examine bone height around endosseous implants on digital conventional radiographs (DCR) and direct digital subtraction images (DSI) prior to loading.Materials and methods: In this experimental study, bone height around 10 implants in 6 patients was assessed by 2 observers. Standardized digital radiographs were obtained just a week and 3 months postoperatively and subtracted by means of EMAGO software. Then the observers evaluated bone height on DCRs and DSIs. MINITAB software and paired t-test were used for statistical analysis (a=0.05).Results: Comparative evaluation of bone height indicated significantly higher values on DCR than on DSI (p value=0.002). The observers also had statistically significant variability in this assessment (p value=0.00003).Conclusion: DSI demonstrated lower values of linear measurement of bone height around endosseous implants compared with DCR. Interobserver variability should be considered when comparing values from follow-up studies.

Abstract: 

Digital Libraries (DLs) enable the development, organization, and administration of digital resources and collections while offering search, retrieval, and other information services through computer networks and electronic platforms. The efficient management of digital content in these libraries bolsters the knowledge economy and fosters an environment conducive to scientific advancements and innovations. Open source is increasingly viewed as a viable alternative to commercial digital library systems, largely due to dissatisfaction with their functionality. Additionally, budget constraints faced by libraries and the rising costs of software development and maintenance have further fueled this shift. Open-source digital library software offers free access alongside reliable functionality, making it an appealing option. Selecting high-quality software is a critical decision in designing a digital library, as it forms the foundation for delivering services. However, the wide range of available options can make the selection process challenging. The key issue lies in clearly defining the library's information requirements and its intended usage. To simplify the decision-making process, we evaluated six widely adopted open-source digital library systems including CDSware, DSpace, Fedora, Greenstone, Keystone, and EPrints. The assessment was based on a checklist comprising eight categories of key criteria. Among these, DSpace emerged as the top performer, followed by Fedora, Greenstone, CDSware, and EPrints. Conversely, Keystone was ranked as the lowest one due to inadequate support for several essential features outlined in the checklist. This study aims to assist decision-makers in selecting and implementing open-source digital library systems effectively in their institutions.
